Ryan Reynolds is writing a script for another movie with actor Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy

Ryan Reynolds is working on a new project that will reunite him with Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy. Following the major success of “Deadpool and Wolverine” (2024), Reynolds is eager to collaborate once more with his friends on a film that is not part of the Marvel universe.

In an upcoming interview for the Variety Awards Circuit podcast, Reynolds revealed: “This year, I’m focusing on writing. I’m developing a script for a movie that will feature Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy], and it’s not a Marvel film”. While he did not share plot details, his enthusiasm points to something original and promising, with plans for production over the next year. So far, it is unknown if any studio has approved the project, but given the success of “Deadpool and Wolverine”, expectations are high for it to be one of Hollywood’s most talked-about upcoming releases.

This collaboration would mark the third time Reynolds and Levy have worked together. In addition to “Deadpool and Wolverine”, the duo has co-produced “Free Guy” (2021) and “The Adam Project”, which blend comedy and action with great success. Their chemistry is known for showcasing Reynolds’ signature humor.

The performance of “Deadpool and Wolverine” was remarkable, grossing US$636 million in the domestic market alone and ranking as the 12th highest-grossing film of all time, with US$1.3 billion worldwide. With this box office success, the film surpassed hits like Joker (2019), becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie to date and securing the seventh spot among the most successful productions in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
