Amanda Bynes Appears on Social Media to Inform Fans That She Is Losing Weight
Amanda Bynes used her social media to inform her followers about the progress she has made in her health and weight loss journey, revealing that she had recently lost about three kilograms. The former “All That” (1994) star posted a photo on Instagram Stories on Tuesday (5), showing the results from a step-counting app. The screenshot indicated that Bynes had taken 14,895 steps, covering a distance of 10.6 kilometers, in addition to climbing 12 flights of stairs.
In the caption, Bynes mentioned that her weight had dropped to about 70 kilograms, and highlighted that she had burned 481 calories, surpassing her goal of 320 calories. Over the years, the actress has been open about her weight loss journey and the challenges related to her mental health. In March, as reported by Us Weekly, she revealed that she had gained more than nine kilograms over several months due to depression: “I’m feeling a lot better now and I’ve learned to respond differently when I’m not motivated to exercise or follow a healthy diet,” she wrote. At that time, Bynes mentioned that she weighed about 73 kilograms and wanted to reach a weight of approximately 50 kilograms.
Amanda Bynes became famous for her roles in Nickelodeon shows and later starred in films such as “She’s the Man” (2006) and “Hairspray” (2007). However, she stepped away from the industry in 2010 after her performance in the movie “Easy A”.
Since then, Bynes has been involved in several controversies, including multiple arrests. In 2010, she was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing into a police car in Los Angeles, and was arrested again in 2014 for a similar offense. The actress also faced several mental health crises, having been hospitalized for psychiatric treatment in 2014. That year, her mother assumed guardianship of Amanda until 2022, when she was able to end the court order. In 2023, Bynes was hospitalized again after asking for help and calling emergency services during a psychotic episode in Los Angeles.
After some time out of the spotlight, Amanda returned to social media in March 2024, in the context of the documentary “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” (2024) from Investigation Discovery. The series revealed the behind-the-scenes of children’s television in the 1990s and 2000s, focusing on the working conditions at Nickelodeon under producer Dan Schneider. However, Bynes was not part of the documentary’s production.
