Box office of “Venom: The Last Dance” impresses and takes down Tom Hanks film

“Venom: The Last Dance” continues to dominate the American box office. According to Deadline, the sequel starring Tom Hardy earned an additional US$26 million this weekend, remaining in the top position for revenue.

The film had the smallest drop of the trilogy between its first and second week in theaters, with only a 49% decrease in box office earnings. The feature now totals US$90 million domestically and US$317 million globally.

Another production that performed much better than expected was “The Wild Robot”, which in its sixth week in theaters returned to second place with US$7.55 million. The animation achieved the feat of increasing its audience by 11% in recent days, now reaching US$121.4 million.

Meanwhile, “Here”, the new film by Robert Zemeckis starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, flopped at the box office this weekend. The production debuted in fifth place, accumulating only US$5 million, falling behind Conclave, which made US$5.3 million.

Kelly Marcel, the screenwriter of the first two Venom films, takes the director’s chair after working with directors Ruben Fleischer on the first film and Andy Serkis (who returns playing Knull, the film’s villain) in the sequel. Marcel also remains as a screenwriter and will also produce, alongside Hardy himself. The two are responsible for the story.

Juno Temple, from Ted Lasso, is also confirmed in the cast, along with Chiwetel Ejiofor. Michelle Williams returns as well.

“Venom: The Last Dance” is now playing in theaters.
