DISNEY: Check Out the Major New Cinema and Streaming Releases Announced at D23 Brazil

D23 Brazil, a first-time event in the country, took place in São Paulo last weekend, providing an incredible experience for fans and unveiling numerous updates on upcoming releases from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and more.

Here’s what was revealed at the first Brazilian edition of the event:

  • The live-action ‘Lilo & Stitch,’ based on the 2002 animation, is set to premiere in cinemas on May 22, 2025, featuring Maria Kealoha as Lilo and Chris Sanders reprising his role as Stitch.
  • After nearly a decade, ‘Ice Age’ returns for its sixth film, bringing back the main characters of the series.
  • It was confirmed that the series ‘Dream Production,’ a spin-off of ‘Inside Out’ (2015) and ‘Inside Out 2’ (2024), will have four episodes and will launch on Disney+ on December 11.
  • ‘Toy Story 5,’ scheduled for release on June 18, 2026, will explore the conflict Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the gang face with new technologies in children’s lives.
  • ‘Mufasa: The Lion King,’ a prequel to the 2019 live-action film, received a final trailer showing Mufasa’s past, played by Aaron Pierre. The release is set for December 19.
  • The soundtrack for ‘Moana 2,’ debuting on November 28, includes the song “Beyond,” sung in Portuguese by Any Gabrielly, former member of Now United.
  • ‘Revenge Operation,’ starring Rami Malek, premieres on April 10, 2025, and tells the story of a CIA cryptographer seeking justice after losing his wife in a London attack.
  • Directly from New Zealand, director James Cameron presented conceptual images of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ashes,’ the third film in the franchise, slated for December 2025.
  • The series ‘Andor,’ a spin-off of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,’ premieres on April 22, 2025, with a 12-episode season.
  • Brad Winderbaum, head of TV, streaming, and animation at Marvel Studios, confirmed that the third season of ‘What If…?’ will be the last, featuring appearances by Storm and White Vision.
  • ‘Thunderbolts,’ with anti-heroes like Yelena Belova, Winter Soldier, and Red Guardian, received a new trailer. ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ set for February 2025, also got a preview with Anthony Mackie facing Red Hulk, portrayed by Harrison Ford.
  • At the presentation of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians,’ it was revealed that Andra Day will play Athena in the second season.
