George R.R. Martin talks about new “Game of Thrones” project with the return of actress Maisie Williams

On his blog, George R.R. Martin revealed that he recently met with Maisie Williams, the actress who brought Arya Stark to life in “Game of Thrones.” Although he shared few details, the author hinted that he is developing a new project with the actress, likely within the world of the HBO series.

“We met with Maisie Williams to eat pizza and pasta. We talked about… well, it’s better not to go into details. I don’t want to spoil anything. But it could be something really fun,” he commented.

It’s worth noting that, after the success of “House of the Dragon,” the next project set in the “Game of Thrones” universe will be “The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.” Exciting fans, George R.R. Martin shared some good news about the production. On his website, the author posted images from his visit to the set of the new HBO prequel series.

Although he has expressed some criticism of “House of the Dragon,” Martin seems to have a much more positive view of “The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”

He praised the work of the showrunner and highlighted the faithfulness of the characters to what was described in the books: “I visited the set in Northern Ireland in July, and I loved what I saw. The cast is wonderful. [The protagonists] Dunk and Egg look like they’ve come straight out of the pages of my book. My readers are going to love them. I certainly love them. [Showrunner Ira Parker] is doing an excellent job,” he wrote.

Additionally, the author revealed that this new production will be distinct from the others set in Westeros, with a more intimate and smaller-scale approach compared to “Game of Thrones” and “House of the Dragon.”

“You might notice that the tone is very different from ‘Game of Thrones’ or ‘House of the Dragon’; it’s smaller, more personal, with more humor, more focus on the characters… but, of course, there’s also danger and death. There are lords, ladies, and princes, but this time they share the stage with ordinary people.”

The series is set to premiere in 2025, ahead of the return of “House of the Dragon” with its third season, scheduled for 2026.
