With the release of “Wicked”, Ariana Grande reveals that she now wants to focus more on acting
In a recent interview, Ariana Grande shared her plans for the future of her career. The singer revealed that in the next 10 years, she intends to focus more on acting, putting her pop music projects a little on the back burner.
The artist, who stars in the movie “Wicked”, set to premiere on November 21 in theaters, appeared on the Las Culturistas podcast this Wednesday (06). During the conversation, she mentioned that her involvement in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical reignited her passion for acting: “I’m going to say something so scary it’s going to surprise everyone, even my fans. I love them, and I know they’ll understand. We will be together forever. I’ll always make music, I’ll always go on stage, I’ll always do pop stuff, I promise with a pinky swear. But I don’t see myself doing that as frequently as I did in the last decade in the next 10 years. I love acting; I love musical theater. Reconnecting with that part of me… I love comedy, and it heals me — finding roles that allow me to explore those facets”.
Before her music career, Ariana Grande stood out in the musical “13” (2012) and in the Nickelodeon series “Victorious” and “Sam & Cat”.
However, after the release of her debut album, “Yours Truly” (2013), Ariana followed up with a series of six albums in seven years, which made it difficult to balance both careers. During this period, she only had one role in a film, playing herself in the comedy “Don’t Look Up”, where she worked alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
This year, Ariana released “Eternal Sunshine”, her first album since 2020. The four-year gap between albums is considerably longer than the previous breaks between her releases. After this revelation, it seems she will be taking more breaks between album releases in the future.
